Beirut River (Beirut, Lebanon)A conceptual framework plan for the development of a Master Plan commissioned by SNA.
These former agricultural lands, enclosed between Beirut River and Beirut-Damascus highway, are actually attracting real estate developments with high level of accessibility. The concern of a major local insurance company located in the area is to submit an urban master plan to local authorities that would prevent a chaotic development of the area. The proposed design defines a common ground that allows for future highly accessible corporate developments while preserving the actual dominant landscape, thus allowing for a sustainable increase in land value. The strategy adopted is based on a public framework that ties the city with the riverside. A network of vehicular and pedestrian streets is combined with the landscape that ranges from urban high trees to nourishing dense plantations. |
